A response to "The Shi'ite Offensive", their article can be found here.
"The Shi'ite Offensive" endeavored to illustrate the cowardice of Abu Bakr and `Umar by citing two questionable traditions. The initial report they referenced from Kanz al-Ummal can be primarily traced back to Musannaf ibn Abi Shayba, where it was considered weak by Shaikh Sa`d al-Shithri due to the transmission of Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla. Notable critics such as `Ali ibn al-Madini, Abu Hatim, al-Bukhari, al-Nasa`i, and al-Daraqutni have critiqued him on account of his poor memory. Imam al-Nasa`i comments in Kitab al-Du`afa wa al-Matrukin:

Translation: "[...] he was not strong in hadith."
The second tradition they referenced is likewise present in Musannaf ibn Abi Shayba, where it was once more considered weak by Shaikh Sa`d due to the involvement of Abu Maryam al-Thaqafi. As an obscure transmitter, his reliability is questioned, as noted in Taqrib al-Tahdhib by ibn Hajar.

End.
